beIN Sports ready to support Canal +


The cacophony around the TV rights of the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 championships continues. Friday, the LFP announced at the end of its board of directors that Amazon won 80% of Ligue 1 until 2024 for the sum of 250 million euros, and that Canal + obtained the broadcasting of two matches by day for the modest sum of 332 million euros.

A distribution of rights that went badly within the encrypted channel which decided to withdraw and not to broadcast Ligue 1 next season. Indeed, Amazon has obtained 8 games for 9 million euros per year when beIN will pay 30 million euros for only two games …

An imbalance that clearly deserves reflection … A source close to the Qatari group thus affirms that beIN will refuse to pay the 330 million euros claimed by the LFP for such a low percentage of matches. Another point of convergence between Canal and beIN Sports is product exposure.
