It seems that the departure of Thomas Tuchel as coach of Paris Saint-Germain, may be a “good omen” for the French club, which is looking to adjust its position locally and successfully complete its career in the Champions League.
According to French press reports, Mauricio Pochettino, the Argentine favorite to succeed Tuchel, may help the club to include its compatriot Lionel Messi next summer.
On Thursday, French and German media said that Tochel has already left Paris Saint-Germain, and that Pochettino, the former Tottenham Hotspur coach, appears the closest to succeeding him.
According to the French newspaper “Le Parisien”, Messi can accompany Pochettino to the “Princes’ Stadium” next season, where the two have a good relationship.
Messi’s association with Barcelona ends at the end of the current season, and the player can, starting next January, enter official negotiations with any club that wants to join him.
The relationship between Messi and his club soured last summer after a weeks-long crisis, when the 33-year-old asked to leave, but the club’s management refused and adhered to the penalty clause of 700 million euros.
Paris Saint-Germain has long been a likely destination for Messi, as he is among the few European clubs able to pay the world’s highest-paid player.
Messi already has many friends in Paris Saint-Germain, most notably Neymar, who moved from Barcelona to the French capital in the summer of 2017 for 222 million euros, in the biggest deal in football history.
It is believed that the elections scheduled in Barcelona on January 24 will play an important role in determining Messi’s fate in the Catalan club, after the recent calm of the crisis due to the resignation of Jose Maria Bartomeu from his post as president of the club.
All Barcelona leadership candidates say Messi is in their future plans, and they refuse to forfeit the player who won the Ballon d’Or 6 times.
