In the Premier League, it is two old enemies who are on the front page of the tabloids this morning. Indeed, Pep Guardiola and José Mourinho have been bickering through the media since yesterday.
As Manchester City and Tottenham face each other in the 9th round of the Premier League, the Portuguese coach of Spurs was suspicious about the real nature of Raheem Sterling’s injury with England.
This provoked a real outcry. For the Daily Express, it is downright “war for Sterling”. “Pep and José are bitterly disputing Raheem’s forfeit to England.” Indeed, Mourinho thinks the Manchester United striker, has been protected by the English national team, in order to be fit for this Premier League clash against Spurs.
This makes the front page of all the British media, who are as happy as the Daily Star: “They are rivals again… War is raging between Mourinho and Guardiola over the Sterling case,” the daily believes. For the Daily Mirror, Mourinho’s doubts make Guardiola take Guardiola off the hook: “Are you a doctor now, José?” the Spanish coach asks. A meeting that promises to be as electric as in the good old days in the Liga between the two coaches.
