PSG-Real Madrid sets a maximum amount for the Kylian Mbappé deal

Real Madrid did not set aside the Kylian Mbappé goal at all, quite the contrary. The will to recruit him next summer is still present, and the strategy has been well established.

Kylian Mbappé and Real Madrid are on two roads that haven’t crossed yet, but for many, they won’t remain parallel for long. In love with the Casa Blanca since his youngest years, fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, the French striker is looking forward to wearing the white jersey one day. In search of a successor to the Portuguese striker who left for Juventus, the Merengue club sees Kylian Mbappé as the natural heir to the former No7. Except that PSG went through the same process by snatching the player from AS Monaco in the summer of 2017 in return for a cheque for €180m.

The Parisian stage seems to be coming to an end, since Mbappé will be at the end of his contract in June 2022 and has not given any positive signal to PSG as to a possible lease extension. For Real Madrid, this is perfectly in line with the strategy put in place to recover it next summer. As explained by Eurosport Spain, the president of Real Madrid Florentino Pérez has delivered an instruction to all the components of the club: not a word about Kylian Mbappé.

Real Madrid wants to pay the minimum

The PSG should not be annoyed or strain the relations, which are excellent, with President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. Real Madrid observes that the plan is going well since Mbappé first had to make the Ile-de-France club understand that an extension was not on the agenda. This places PSG in a quasi-sale obligation next summer. Added to this is the difficult economic context for all the clubs and you get the conclusion desired by Real Madrid: a price in free fall.

As Eurosport reminds us, the merengue club does not want to break the €120m barrier to recruit the 21-year-old French international. Far from the announced estimates. Will Real Madrid succeed? Florentino Pérez is confident that the operation he will personally lead will be a success. Rather than the din, chosen by FC Barcelona in the Neymar case, the Madrid club has chosen discretion and patience. It remains to be seen whether this will work.
