Al-Janoub Stadium is a truly remarkable arena with a capacity of around 40,000 spectators, designed by the late world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid. The curves of the building are characteristic of her style: the shapes of this elegant Qatari stadium are inspired by the hulls of the pearl fishing boats that have long worked along the coast of the Arabian Peninsula. This inspiration is also reflected in the use of traditional materials, especially wood, in the structure.
Al-Janoub Stadium is located in the city of Al-Wakrah, just 20 kilometers from Doha. Fans will be able to get there via a specially designed metro line.
