Romelu Lukaku is the 2020 winner of the “Prix Giacinto Facchetti – Il Bello del Calcio”, named after the former great Inter Milan defender, awarded each year by the Gazzetta dello Sport to a “personality in the world of football who has distinguished himself through loyalty and fair play”.
“Goal after goal, in Italy and in Europe, Romelu Lukaku has shown himself to be a pure striker, adding to his technical baggage strength of will, generosity and altruism. His human qualities make him a true leader,” explained Gianfelice Facchetti, son of Giacinto Facchetti, former captain of Inter and the Italian national team.

Lukaku received the award in an interview at the Trento Sports Festival. The Red Devils’ outpost said he was “honoured to receive this award”. He succeeds Gianluca Vialli. Paolo Maldini, Michel Platini, Eric Abidal, Francesco Totti and Andrea Pirlo were among those who received the prize, which was organised for the first time in 2006.
