Why do the best footballers have the nickname GOAT ?

So what does GOAT mean and who is GOAT?

GOAT (or G.O.A.T.) is an acronym that stands for “the best of all time”. It is a label reserved for the individual who is considered the undisputed master of his or her sport. Although it has been used for a long time, the term was popularized in the 20th century by heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali, who in 1964 declared himself “the best” after defeating Sonny Liston. It then became a nickname for Ali throughout his career and he revisited the slogan after defeating George Foreman by knockout, against all odds, in 1974.
